Friendship Series Undefeated
The
Seattle Mariners Rookies team finished the series with at 6 - 0 record. Justin
Boggs of Tulare hit a 7th inning grand slam home run to win the final game.
Zack Tips of Menlo Park was voted the most outstanding pitcher. Congratulations
to all of the Rookies players on a very successful trip to Beijing, China

Seattle Mariners Minor League Team visits Beijing, China
Summer of 2000
The Seattle Mariner League Team visited Beijing, China
and played the 1st Goodwill Series with the Beijing State
Baseball Team, winner of the China National Tournament 1992-1999.
The final outcome of the Series was 2-2. The majority of
the Mariners players and coaches were from the Everett "Rookie" Team.
The coaches were outstanding in the clinic and each team
played very competitive baseball. The trip was a cooperative
venture with Area Code™ Baseball and the Seattle Mariners.
Rob Williams, Mariners China Scout and Group Leader; Terry
Pollreisz, Manager; Gary Wheelock, Pitching Coach; Andy Bottin, Catching
coach and Mickey Clarizio, Trainer were outstanding as instructors and
coaches. The games were very close and each team displayed skill and
athletic ability. All players were ages 18 to 24. |
