What an Amazing Day ...

Our first full complete day off to go sightseeing and we had the time of our life!

The day started off with a lengthy bus ride thought the countryside. Michael our bus driver had a great time explaining all the points of interest along the way. We traveled though rural communities where we saw the life of the farmers. We reached the top of a mountain range that the driver said we were going through the rain forest.

At the bottom of the hill we saw the ocean! WOW! The coastline was beautiful! We stopped first at a small line of shops. Only a few minutes to shop and use the rest room then we had to hustle back to the bus. A few blocks up, we stop on the coast for lunch. Everyone was on their own to eat what he or she wanted. Some had seafood and others had sandwiches.

The walk along the docks was pretty and made for great photo opportunities. Everyone was snapping the pictures. Back on the bus we went for a quick ride into a residential area where the best part of the day was ahead! We hadn't seen many kangaroos until this point, when Michael turned a corner and bam!!! There they were!

The busses erupted with delight! We parked; Michael explained the dangers of the Kangaroos, noting that they are wild animals and to not rush at them with our excitement. We got off the bus and off we went. We were able to walk right up to them and touch them. We squatted next to them and took pictures. Some even laid down next to them.

We started to feed them some bread and such, and at 2 points, we saw the baby in the pouch! It's called a Joey, and how precious it was to see it! The area we stopped at was right on the coast and we all took the time to walk along the water out onto the rocks for more great photo opportunities.

Wow! Kris, our host had a surprise for us also this day. When we were all petting and observing the kangaroos and walking along the coast, her and our bus driver prepared an authentic shrimp on the Barbie snack. It was delightful! Most everyone tried it and we all talked and enjoyed the atmosphere.

What an amazing day. We have lots of happy people right now! We arrived home about 8:30 and most returned to the room for the night.

Tomorrow we are off to the zoo and aquarium. We have games again tonight at 6pm and 7:30.
