| Goodwill Series Wrap Up - Australia, December 2003 | ||
The December 2003 Goodwill Series in Australia was a test of our American player's ability to adjust. The Australian State Teams from New South Wales (Sydney), South Australia (Adelaide) and Western Australia (Perth) provided strong competition to our players ages 13-18. Each team played 12 games in 14 days. The players enjoyed the opportunity to "home stay" with an Australian player. Our coaches included Charlie Aliano (Brewers scout), Dan DeBattista (Pirates scout), Delmon Young (Tampa bay #1 draft selection), Artie Harris (Dodgers scout), Terry Reynolds (Scouting Director Reds), Mike Paustain (pro player) and Rob Williams. Our mission was to teach the game of baseball and to compete on the field. The following players performed with exceptional tools, made the necessary adjustments and enjoyed the game of baseball. Each player gained maturity from this Goodwill Series and obtained knowledge of their personal ability to succeed. Brewers '18 and under' Team Christopher Buss, 17 year old shortstop from Rosemont, Minnesota Devin Shepherd, 16 year old 6'4 outfielder from Southern California Charlie Cutler, 17 year old lefthanded hitting catcher from San Francisco Nicholas Francona, 18 year old LHP pitcher from Yardley, PA Matt Hammond, 18 year old RHP and Area Code player from Tucson Jeff Hann, a 16 year old RHP from Huntington beach, California Wes Cogdill , 18 year old LHP from Wilkesboro, North Caolina Expos '18 and under' team Jordan Muir, 16 year old RHP from Las Vegas Brock Lindeke, 17 year catcher from Sequel, California Ryan Hanlon, 16 year old outfielder from Sacramento Expos '16 and under' team Philip Myers 16 year old LHP from Louisville, KY Michael Gleason, 16 year old RHP from Willows, California Michael Bugary, 16 year old LHP from Salinas, California Michael Trump, 16 year old switch hitting 3b from Calabasas, California Evan Fields, 16 year old LHP from Lompoc, California Brandon White, 16 year old catcher from Wheelersburg, Ohio Anthony Cusimano, 16 year old infielder-outfielder from La Verne, California Rookies Team '14 and under' JR. Reynolds, A.J. Talt, Duston Emmons, Colton Stock, Kyle Brady, Gregg Ziegler, Duke VonSchamann, Mac Simotes, Adam Pendleton, Cody Thomas, Cory Hahn, Scott Denesha, David Belardes and Christian Allen all contributed to this teams success with a 8 wins and 2 loss record.
