Talkin' Aussie Planning to visit Australia any time soon? Have you ever heard the saying "English-speaking people are divided by a common language?" As you try to find your way around this beautiful continent, a small "Aussie dictionary" might be useful. "Good day, Mate" -Yes, they really say this down here. It could be equated with the Southern expression "buddy", but it is used with total strangers and friends alike. "No worries" - Used like our phrase "no problem" "Car park" - Parking lot "Canteen" - Concession stand "Chemist" - Drug store "Toilet" - The bathroom - not a fixture in the bathroom "Lift" - The elevator "Rubbish bin" - Trash can "Serviette" - A napkin "Breakie" - Breakfast "Sunnys" - Sun glasses "Footy" - A football "Tucker Box" - Picnic basket "Bluey" - A red-head "Milko" - The milk-man (yes, they do have these) "Good on ya" - Good for you, well done "Totally buggered" - I'm really tired "Billabong" - Pond "Chips" - French fries "Lemonade" - Sprite "You've got two feet and a heart-beat" - Get up and do it yourself "Bathers" - Bathing suit "Entree" - Appetizers, not the main course |
A Day of Tough Competition Mariners Vs. West Australia Under 14 State Team, Under 15 Perth All-stars The Mariners came out winning today in both games of their double-header, making this their eighth consecutive win of the Australia Tour. The first game was a 12 - 4 victory, with Isamu McGregor, Brad Riddle and Garrett Trezona pitching. Brandon Gisi and Jacky Crachiola hit doubles. The second game had an ending score of 9 - 3, with Brandon Gisi, David Wyman and Garrett Trezona pitching. Joe De Pinto and Jacky Crachiola hit doubles.
Astros Vs. West Australia Under 16 State Team
Brewers Vs. Under 18 West Australia State Team, Under 21 Perth All-Stars The Brewers played a double-header today, recording two wins. They won their first game 6 - 4 over the Under 18 West Australia State Team. Paul Garritson and Sebastian Miles pitched. They won their Second game against the Under 21 Perth All-stars. Dillon Lovelace and Andy Saastamoinen pitched, helping their team to a 9 - 7 win. Jake Hoffman and Austin Witt hit doubles. Blue Jays Vs. ACT, New South Wales The Blue Jays collected two losses today as they played against ACT and New South Wales. The first game was against the ACT team, with a final score of 7 - 1. The second game was against New South Wales, with a final score of 3 - 0. J.T. Unumb collected three hits in the two games. Tyler Stevens showed outstanding defensive skills while playing shortstop.
