Brewers 18 and Under vs West Australia Under 18 Team

9 - 4, West Australia

The West Australian Under 18 Team proved a strong competitor on day three of the Brewers' competition in Perth, Western Australia. Despite the five run loss, the Brewers' offense had clear highlights. Josh Prince (Louisiana) went two for three with one home run and two RBI's. Tyler DeWitt hit a double and had one RBI. Steve Karwatt (Florida) had two hits with one run scored. Kenny Ford (Florida) reached base on all four plate appearances.

Coach Charlie Aliano and Pitching Coach Tom Clark noted the team's offensive abilities, were strong while defense was lacking in today's game.

Brewers 16 and Under vs WA All-Star Seniors

10 - 4, Brewers

The Brewers dominated a local (non-state) team from Perth, Western Australia scoring 17 runs and allowing just one. The Rookies distinguished themselves with outstanding defensive play. Clark Eckert (California) lead this strong defensive display with seven remarkable put outs as catcher and third baseman. Multiple game hits were realized by Gregory Zebrack (California), Nicholas Waters (Ohio), Adam Adkins (Tennessee), John Greer (Tennessee) , Drew Brown (Tennessee) and Mitchell Thompson. A strong pitching performance was given by Gregory Zebrack before the mercy rule was activated. Zebrack struck out 12 WA hitters, walking five.

Coaches Story-Harden and Dunning couldn't praise the Brewers Rookies enough for their strong play and positive team spirit.

Brewers Rookies and Under vs Western Australia State Team

4-2, West Australia Team

The first defeat by the Brewers Rookies, so far during the entire Australian road trip was realized today with a very close 2 run margin. Two strong left handed West Australian pitchers closed down the Brewers offensive, allowing just two hits over the course game. Mitchell Thompson (California) started the game going 2 and 1/3 innings, striking out five and allowing just one earned run and two hits. Nick Waters (Ohio) came on in relief late in the third inning to striking out two, walking one and allowing one earned run.

Coach Thomari Story-Harden reported that the Rookies made a valiant attempt to come back in the final inning, but out of time, the Brewers stranded two base runners in the bottom of the fifth.
