18 and Under
9 - 3, Brewers 18 and Under
MVP Tyler Hoechlin (California) went two for three with a triple, an RBI and two stolen bases. His energy, both defensively and offensively, sparked the team onto the win. Andrew Berger (California) pitched five innings with three strike outs and just two hits. Kenny Ford (Florida) went two for three and Eric Fry (Louisiana) hit a home run and Mike Bugary (California) went for a stand up double. Josh Prince (Louisiana) provided the team with excellent defense once again as short stop. Stilling any momentum the opposing team had was Jon Purcell (California) in his one very strong inning as relief pitcher.
16 and Under
13 - 2, Brewers 16 and Under
Chase Pennington (California) earned the game MVP with a great job pitching four innings with three strike outs and only three hits. Kai Ribao (Hawaii) lead in base running. After getting on first, Ribao stole second, third and home for the Brewers' first run. As relief pitcher, Jack Helfrich (California) struck out two batters and allowed one hit in three innings. Matt McGee (Tennessee) went two for three, scoring two runs and Blake Pennington (California)
went two for two including a triple and scoring a run.
Coach Smothers, assisted by Coaches Kyle Dunning and Thomari Story-Harden was happy with the days effort which was strong both offensively and defensively. The Brewers had eleven hits including four extra base hits (three doubles and a triple). The Brewers pitchers held South Australia to just four single hits in seven innings, striking out five batters.
Rookies, 14 and Under
10 - 10 (tie)
The Rookies valiant effort against the South Australians, brought home a tie game, 10 - 10. It was a strong hitting game. Greg Zebrack (California) hit a triple and Drew Brown (Tennessee) had a triple in a three for three effort. Game MVP, Adam Adkins (Tennessee) went two for three.
Overall, Coach Thomari Story- Harden said it was an offensive day for the Brewers Rookies Team.
