
Coach Aliano makes his 8th trip with GWS to Australia this year. He brings with him a wealth of scouting and coaching experience. After spending a year scouting with the Montreal Expos in 1997, Charlie then spent the next six years scouting for the Toronto Blue Jays. Currently, Charlie is a Cubs "National Scout.
Coach Aliano's passion for coaching and teaching has never slackened. Beginning in 1986 as a JV coach in Valley Stream, New York, Charlie has amassed an impressive coaching resume. To name of few of his stops: Toronto Blue Jays Minor League, Columbia University, Fordham University, Adelphi University, Long Island Sound (Atlantic Collegiate League), Queensborough Community College, plus several high school venues. Throughout his professional career, Coach Aliano also sought out the baseball camp coaching experience, allowing him to further indulge and develop his coaching techniques: Jim Gabellas's Academy, University of South Carolina, Jerry Martin's Academy, New York Academy, Massapequa Camp, Lutheran Baseball School, Diamond Pros, St John's University, and Florida Baseball School.
The picture could not be clearer. Charlie Aliano loves coaching. But it isn't passion alone that he brings to the field. Charlie is a skilled and talented coach recognized by the experts. Coach Aliano was named Coach of the Year no less than three times throughout his career. Whether he is coaching or scouting, Charlie brings expertise and dedication to his work. He was the recipient of the Al Lamacchia Scout of the Year Award for the Toronto Blue Jays, the Topps Scout of the Month, the Diamond Sports Award, and the Louisville Slugger Award.
Coach Aliano holds an Associate's degree in broadcasting and a Bachelor's in social science. He played ball throughout high school and college, completing his professional playing career with the Empire State League, bringing home the League Championship pennant in 1987.
